Daniel Grodensky received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University in 2000, and the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel, in 2006. Since 2009, he has been working toward the Ph.D. degree in Engineering at Bar-Ilan University, Israel. Daniel has number of publication in scientific journals relating to ultra-wideband noise radars, laser ranging methods based on incoherent pulse compression, and RF photonics. Over 12 years of development and hands-on experience in optical communication industry, have worked for several telecommunication industry leaders in charge of managing and leading the design effort of companies latest and most advanced products. A vast expertise in all areas of circuit and high speed board design, as well as a familiarity with many different industries, such as: optical networks, datacom, telecommunication, consumer electronics, and wireless communication. Daniel is now with the Arrow Israel, where he serves as a senior application engineer and is responsible for high-end analog, electro-optical, and high power RF product lines.

  • Optocoupler application: MOSFET/IGBT gate driving, current/voltage sensing
  • Isolation amplifiers
  • Optocoupler figures of merit:  common mode rejection (CMR), input-output insulation, absolute and calibrated accuracies, temp drift error, bandwidth, creepage & clearance, power consumption
  • Optocoupler standard IEC 60747-5-5
  • Overview of Equipment and Component Safety Standards
  • Isolation design for Reinforced Safety and Reliability
  • Using alternative isolators for Safety application


Part 2 (0.5 day): Motion Control Encoders in Electrical Motor Systems

  • Incremental and Absolute encoders
  • Transmissive, Reflective and Magnetic sensing technologies
  • Electrical motor systems and basic encoder operations
  • Units of measure and main encoder characteristics
